That last question got me thinking bout how Jessica Alba’s 2014 MTV Movie Awards look is suuuper easy to dupe on the cheap! The skirt is the previously mentioned JOA textured midi ($69). The top is ZARA’s seamed bandeau, $29.90. And the shoes, well, I hated Jessica Alba’s shoes almost as much as I hate Jessica Alba. But you could definitely find a cuter B&W pump like these Michael Antonio two-tone heels, $39.95. DUPED.

Anonymous asked: Attending a fancy celebratory brunch in a few weeks and looking to try a midi skirt. However, I don't know which to pick and what to wear it with. Help!
Fun! Here are a few styles to try. Midi skirts are surprisingly easy to rock, I promise! I tried to stay under $100 and keep colors neutral so you can mix and match and feel INSPIRED by the POWER OF MIDI.
OK. As this is a brunch and not a night out, I would say skip the butt-hugging pencil midi skirts. Look for something a bit more full in shape, like this Forever 21 button front midi skirt ($17.80), or something A-line like this JOA textured midi skirt ($69). I also think a slit looks great in a midi skirt - a little movement can be super flattering. This Forever 21 printed skirt is a great option ($24.80). Topshop also has a black one for $50 and a floral one for $72.
For shoes, I like a neutral sandal with an ankle strap like this Vince Camuto 'Luciah' wedge ($72) or this Coconuts flat sandal ($29.95). Keeps things trendy without being too busy. As for tops, I’ve mentioned the Aerie swing tank ($22.95, 40% off with code GETHOPPY) before as something that would go great with a high-waisted bottom. ZARA has two good options too: this frilly top is $39.95 and this lace top is $35.90. You don’t have to go full crop top, but look for something cut short and loose. Alternatively you could tuck in something fitted, like J. Crew’s ballet tee ($32.50) or a fitted tank.
Hope this was helpful - have fun!

If you were planning on a new pair of Ray-Bans this summer anyway, here’s a PSA that they are on sale on Hautelook. Prices are about 25% off the regular retail (the above women’s plastic wayfarers are $135, from $180) and they are selling out quite fast. Here’s my referral link if you’re not already a member!

The Boohoo cap sleeve midi-dress comes in a whopping TWELVE colors and is just $16. I got the navy blue and can attest that while it is body-con, it’s not that tight uncomfortable spandex a la American Apparel. It’s a super soft, more fluid jersey that clings in a good way. I sized up two sizes from what I’d normally buy in a dress, and I’m glad I did because it’s a little more forgiving while still being sexy. Highly recommend.

ZARA’s high waisted shorts are just $15.99 and also come in a bright yellow and turquoise. You can also snag that tie-waist tee for $16.99; it comes in four solid colors and two prints. I would pair the yellow shorts with the navy stripe tee and have a Taylor Swift moment.

I’ve been engaging in a bit of spring cleaning as of late, and realized I need to restock on sleep shorts. These Aerie printed boxer shorts are just $15.95 plus 40% off your purchase (code: GETHOPPY) and will be perfect to throw on if I need to venture to the kitchen for more sriracha while my roommate’s boyfriend is over. PS: normally I would advise against such a seasonal item but you best believe I want to sleep in seashell pants all winter long.

SUMMER NEED. These Gorjana rose gold flamingo studs are $35 with 20% off (code: FLING) on Piperlime. I don’t ever go full pink-and-kelly-green-palm-print, but little dashes of that preppy Florida style are A+.

These H&M loose-fit pants are $20 and would look cute with flip flops and a tank to run errands as the weather warms up. Very “off-duty Gwen Stefani.”

Love these two ponte peplum tops from J. Crew Factory. Both the navy print and the navy stripe are $39 each (from $78). I got really bored of peplum but for whatever reason I’m suddenly digging the shape again.

I loooove Longchamp Le Pliage totes. I’ll admit, when I nabbed my first one back in 2007 I was just following the herd, but damn these bags WORK for me. I have four (two small, two large) and use them constantly. I mean essentially it’s just a big sack for all of your nonsense, like no pockets, no rules, no order. But for whatever reason they are my enduring best friend. And, in news that I’ve never even seen before: THEY ARE ON SALE AT NORDSTROM. The large Le Pliage (pictured above) is $108.75 (from $145) and available in seven colors, and the small Le Pliage is $93.75 (from $125) in eleven colors. I already own the red, bilberry and slate, plus a custom one that I designed on their webiste (who am I, why) but I just picked up a small black one. It’s so clean and classic. I’ve wanted it for a while. AND YOU KNOW WHAT.
